UNCG Training Facilities
The Norwegian Men’s National Football Team will be training for their 2026 World Cup games at UNC Greensboro’s world-class soccer facility for the duration of their tournament. Head Coach Ståle Solbakken chose Greensboro because UNCG offers a top training facility and an ideal setting to optimize performance.
The Facility
The UNCG Soccer Stadium is a modern, soccer-only facility located in the heart of campus. Both the men’s and women’s teams celebrated their 35th season in the state-of-the-art facility in 2025.
The stadium still rivals any collegiate soccer facility in the nation — featuring a Bermuda-style natural-grass playing field with a state-of-the-art drainage system, broadcast-quality lighting, and permanent seating for 3,540 spectators.
In 2025, Brazilian club SE Palmeiras trained at the facility during the FIFA Club World Cup. Prior to the 1996 Olympics, the Norwegian women’s national team trained here and played an exhibition match — making this a homecoming of sorts for Norwegian football.

“The World Cup is a test, both mentally and physically. It is extremely important to be able to disconnect from matches and training and have good facilities.”
— Ståle Solbakken, Head Coach · Norwegian Men’s National Football Team
